creating Freedom

chag tov, einayim sgurim...ze magi'ah...cherut halayla!

In each one of us there is an Egypt and a Pharaoh and a Moses and Freedom in a Promised Land. And every point in time is an opportunity for another Exodus.

Egypt is a place that chains you to who you are, constraining you from growth and change. And Pharaoh is that voice inside that mocks your gambit to escape, saying, "How could you attempt being today something you were not yesterday? Aren't you good enough just as you are? Don't you know who you are?"

Moses is the liberator, the infinite force deep within, an impetuous and all-powerful drive to break out from any bondage, to always transcend, to connect with that which has no bounds.

But Freedom and the Promised Land are not static elements that lie in wait. They are your own achievements which you may create at any moment, in any thing that you do, simply by breaking free from whoever you were the day before...

longing for spring

Cultivate the soul with hope; teach it to await the break of dawn with longing eyes. Through its ordeals, the soul is softened to absorb the rains, but spring will only come to those that long for it.

And so the sages say, "In the merit of hope, our parents were redeemed from Egypt."

~tzvi freeman

but really, the truth is to allow time and space to bring new awarenesses to you, to allow what needs to happen to take place, and to long, yes, but also to allow the days and moments to embrace you with everything that they'll slowly, slowly, shwayeh shwayeh, bring...bezrat hashem.

it is so painful. but really, yihye tov. kvar tov, pashut kasheh me'od lirot. tzrichim leha'amin. leha'amin.

puzzled

Think of your world as a massive jigsaw puzzle in time and three dimensions. All the objects and events are meant to fit together neatly, yet they seem just a heap of dysfunctional fragments.

Here is the trick to reassembling those fragments: Find your own purpose first and start moving headstrong towards it. Once in that mode, all things related to your purpose will find you. And those things already attached to you will find their place as well. Suddenly, where once noise and chaos tore you in a thousand directions, a great symphony occurs.

see the image of G-d

How you treat others is how G-d treats you. How you forgive them is how He forgives you. How you see them is how He sees you.

When you show empathy for the plight of another human being, G-d takes empathy in your plight.

When others slight you and you ignore the call to vengeance that burns inside, G-d erases all memory of your failures toward Him. When you see the image of G-d in another human being, then the image of G-d becomes revealed within you. (tzvi freeman, daily dosage)

Trust, not faith.

People ask, "How can I have confidence in G–d? Confidence that He will take care of me, that everything will work out for the best? Perhaps I don’t deserve the best. Perhaps I’ve already messed up so bad He no longer cares about me?"

These people have trust in G–d all mixed up.

Trust is not faith. Faith is something you may or may not have. But trust is something you do. Hard.

Trust is when you are dragged by the currents of a mighty river and you cling with all your might to a rock you trust will not move. Trust is when, in times of trouble, you cleave so unshakably to the heavens that you pull them down to earth.

Trust is a mighty and heroic bonding of love. And as with all love, it is reflected in the heart of the beloved. You bond with the Eternal Rock above, and the Above bonds with you. Then you are a fit vessel for all kinds of good.

Trust changes who you are. It changes your whole world. And it is available to anybody, at any moment, no matter who they were the moment before.

O ff balance

Often, anxiety takes root because a person’s external character is incompatible with his or her inner self. The anxiety may dwell upon other issues and obsessions—but none of these are the true underlying cause.

Most souls can tolerate a few inconsistencies. But others are sensitive to every nuance. As soon as some aspect of their lifestyle is not attuned to the purity of the essential self, the entire person is thrown off balance.

pinh o les

No matter how much you distrust your own sincerity or question your motives, there is no trace of doubt that at your core lives a G-dly soul, pure and sincere.

You provide the actions and the deed. She needs no more than a pinhole through which to break out and fill those deeds with Divine power.

Being not that.

Be simple. In whatever you do, in whatever form you take, in whatever you decide you are, retain memory that you are not that.

lift your head

Whenever a G-dly act is performed, all involved are elevated beyond time.
Save a life--you are Noah saving the entire world. Feed weary travelers--they are the angels coming to visit Abraham and Sarah. And Abraham and Sarah are hosting them with you.
In fact, all those who had truth in their lives are here with us today.

It is only that we are so much a part of this river of time, we cannot lift our heads to see above it.

Only when the falseness of the world will be ripped away and all is elevated to a place of truth, then we shall all see each other, together once again.

boring Diamonds*

The essential teaching of the Baal Shem Tov:

Be simple, be earnest, and spread that simplicity throughout everything you do.
Simplicity is a receptacle for G-d's simple Oneness.

Imagine

Make yourself small and you will be great.
Know you are nothing and you will be infinite. At the very least, don't make such a big deal of yourself and you will be all that much closer to the truth.

Erev RH

'There are things that are important for us, so we speak about them. There are things very important to us -- and so words flow out from us, bursting with emotion, meaning and depth.

And then there are things that shake us to the core. The core of our being does not wait for the mind's permission or for the right words -- there are no words that can contain it. It breaks out in a cry, in a scream and in silence.

This is the sound of the shofar..'

ah gut gebentched yuhr to you. gut gebentched where the gut is right out there for you to touch.. and be thankful for.. happiness.. and peace.. inside your brain.. and inside your heart. and happiness beyond the happiness and peace.. inside your heart. Shana Tova.

a Big Plan

Despair is the ultimate form of self-worship --the perception that you have the capacity to truly mess up, to take the world's destiny out of its Creator's hands and sabotage His plans.

[Know that the world is in a constant state of elevation, rocketing upwards towards its ultimate wholeness at every moment. Every quivering of every leaf, every subtle breeze, every slightest motion of any particle of our universe is another move in that same direction. Even those events that seem to thrust downward are in truth only a part of the ascent --like the poise of an athlete before he leaps, the contraction of a spring before its energy is released. ]

There is not a thing you could do halt that dynamic even for a moment. True, you must take responsibility for your deeds and work hard, very hard, to clean up your own mess. But when all the dust settles, you are exactly in the space where you were meant to be: One step closer.

confidence in the Now

Trusting in the One Above doesn’t mean waiting for miracles.

It means having confidence in what you are doing right now --because you know He has put you on the right path and will fill whatever you do with divine energy and blessing from on high.

Why my friends don't go to school

Working for a living is good. It's the anxiety over making a living that is not good.Don't let your inner self get involved in your business. That inner self must be preserved for fulfilling your purpose in life. Making lots of money is not your purpose in life.

mmm, who, me?

Thursday, May 3, 2007

ahhhh. yummmm.

There are three ways to bring unity between two opposites:

The first is by introducing a power that transcends both of them and to which they both utterly surrender their entire being. They are then at peace with each other because they are both under the influence of the same force. But their being is not at peace -- their being is simply ignored.

The second way is by finding a middle ground where the two beings meet. The two are at peace where they meet on that middle ground -- but the rest of their territory remains apart and distant.

The third way is to reveal that the essence of every aspect of the two beings is one and the same.

Tuesday, May 1, 2007

There was peace.

First there was One. There was no peace, because there was nothing with which to make peace. There was only One.

Then there was Two. There was Plurality. From this point on, an infinite cacophony of conflict extended in all directions and forever.

And on the third day G-d created peace.Peace is not homogeneity. Peace does not mean that everyone thinks the same way. Peace is when there is plurality that finds a higher Oneness.

say wha?

When is G-d?

G-d is found at two poles of Time. He is found outside Time and beyond. And He is found here within the moment now.

From that point beyond, G-d looks within and says, "From this, I will have delight." And from that choice, all things, past and future, are made.

Here's what I want to know:
